we still get to play memphis and uconn...."so I'm saying there's a chance"

Coach definitely not on the hot seat. USF fans are in uncharted rock bottom territory. They've never had to experience these lows, never had to experience rebuilding. This is probably the worst case scenario of rebuilding right now, but it is rebuilding. Defense looks to be slowly making progress. Breakdowns happen, but overall have seen them play a bit better since week 1. Offense hasn't hit its stride yet, but it's really not going to this year with that O-line personnel. Bench does look to be a "savior" of sorts, as he at least has some upside to him, and some mobility.

I have to use the Kragthorpe model. Louisville was team toilet for 3 years. Strong got there and had a rough first season with a bare cupboard, but turned it around with some good recruiting and patience. Give Willie a year to recruit, and get things in order. A year of experience and a good/lucky/whatever you wanna call it recruit could exponentially turn things around. It's going to be rough, but it honestly can't get much worse (short of ridiculous things like dropping conferences or to FCS or shutting down or something).

Charlie Strong was 7-6 his first year and took UL to the Beef O'Brady Bowl and won.  We barely beat his team in OT.  Hopefully CWT can turn things around in a hurry and we can relate his first year to Strong's.  Right now, however, that correlation is bunk!

that FALLS ON COACHING to fix, THIS YEAR

would u like  fries with that "fast food mentality" ?

Not talking schemes. Not talking about winning. I am talking, hold on to the ball, catch a pass, watch the ball and don't fall for the hard count, know the snap count, etc. Football 101, pee wee football stuff that is not being done correctly. Those ARE the things they SHOULD be doing year 1.

Right now we can't win against the likes of FAU or MSU, that is not "fast food mentality" to expect wins against this level of dreg.  If you're ok with what's going on, then I'm sure you could have put up with another four years of Skip Holtz.  Or better yet, maybe we could have brought in Kragholtzthorpe (sorry, too easy to make that mistake) for you to enjoy.

I really think that Taggart jumped on teaching the playbook thinking that was the problem and didn't realize it goes deeper, down to the very basics of how to play your position, and how to do your assignment and not forget everything and start freewheeling. If they played a game where they protected the ball and didn't have stupid penalties, I'd see that as progress, baby steps, but still a step in the right direction.

Cards were 4-8 in Kragthorpe's last season. Strong has had the benefit of not only recruiting with the BCS label, but also with the advantage of pending upgrade to the ACC, a P5 conference. Louisville, as a program, had far more history as well as more recent success on the field (including a 12-1 season and an Orange Bowl win just 4 years before strong got there).

Taggart can't be compared to Strong as a coach, but neither can the situation Taggart is inheriting at USF be compared to the situation Strong inherited at the Ville.

there are 9 more games of year 1.

none of the things u are mentioning-- holding the ball, catching the ball, the snap count-- are facilitated by the worst OLine in D1 football.

an OLine is not something a coach can snap his fingers and create, not even at the peewee level. it takes size, IQ, talent and CHEMISTRY. a spring+summer and 3 games does not turn a garbage OLine into a serviceable FBS OLine.

Marcus Shaw has 398 yards/7 ypc in 3 games. You don't do that all on yourself. And mistakes are all over the field, can't put it all on the O line when you do have a running game. BTW, for 2014 he hasn't recruited one lineman over 300lbs.

Fast food mentality.

More like kneejerk mentality.  Needed someone to put on the list, so scan the W/L.  Makes no sense, but most people reading that opinion wouldn't know any better.

The author did remind me, however, that we have a great shot at not losing next week.

More like "head stuck in dark place that smells bad" mentality.

That list is a great excuse not to waste money subscribing to that site.

IT was time to fire skip.  While I understand Tags has to coach this team in his mold, there is NO WAY we should lose to Mcneese and FAU.  He needed to recruit better at QB and on the O-line and that is on him.  There are plenty of freshman QB's that have come in and played well (Grothe).  He is not on the hot seat now.  But he is worse then anyone expected at this point so he needs to change things around much quicker.  3 years and we may be looking again for another coach.  We should have hired Butch Davis.  And none of this would be happening
