Stumbled on this '09 CJL interview with SVP after our W vs. FSU... Sickening to think of how far we've fallen in just 4 years

"We do have a lot of work to do and we have a young team. Hopefully our guys will continue to improve and get better, because we have to. That's the only way, for all programs across the country. You've got to be able to get better."

We get it, we suck, we've sucked for a while now.  We'll get better.  I'm sure of it.

Have plenty of company. Tennessee used to be a contender. Look at USC, wow. Auburn. And I think Texas is headed into the crapper. Its the way of college football. Players graduate, the game changes, etc.. All programs have low points. Including all those teams that are on the top now. They ALL have sucked recently. South Carlina has always sucked, until recently. Notre Dame has just started not sucking. 10 years ago Alabama was a disaster. etc etc.

We will always suck, until we don't.

I really believe that this downturn doesn't happen under Leavitt's watch... You guys make very rational points, though.

Note how all of those schools had devastating coaching changes

It sucks sucking. Winning cures sucking.  USF needs to get a W starting with FAU this weekend.

You can believe what you want but the fact is that Leavitt never competed for the Big East title. If the last 3 years USF came in no better than 3rd in the Big East, this fanbase would be in an uproar and want him gone. If you recall when Holtz arrived, USF had issues with no talent at key positions. like WR. Holtz said he was surprised at the lack of talent at key positions so its not just Holtz that had holes in the team.

The fan base has wised up a little.  Many have at least.

Never heard of Holtz saying that, but from what I remember; Bogan, Love, and Griffin were very solid (injuries aside)

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
