Like I said. We should name numbers 2 and 9 the captains.

Without Doug Woolard we would have been UCF these past 16 years.  Wallowing away in the CUSA, if that.  Doug pulled together one hell of a deal to get us into the Big East.  They did not want us, and he worked to the deal with the schools that they did want to get us included.  That is the main reason we did not get the Big East love.

He can be blames for firing CJL, but honestly, you are blaming the prosecuting attorney for the murder conviction.  He can be blamed for Skip, he was hired by DW I guess, though honestly we all know it was a board decision of DW's recommendation.  Skip was also a hero on this board when he was hired.  A huge feather in USF's cap, we get his daddy for free, he is the anti-CJL and the fans loved him until he lost and lost and lost.

Now we have CWT, everyone was on the bus until the first stop last night.  Now you want to fire DW, why too soon to start the "fire the bus driver" stories?

Look at ALL sports, he is responsible for th budget and the management of all sports, not just football.  Look at the facilities, where all the programs are now compared to the 90's.  Hell, 5 years ago.  The nationally ranked softball team played on a field that the county would not have kept open as a little league field.  Jefferson played on a better baseball diamond than the Bulls.  The soccer team played in a donated stadium, and the offices sucked.  He rebuilt the Sun Dome, now if some of you would go to a ******* game you would see that.  OH, forgot, they are not a national champion team so it is not worth the time.

Just to correct your history. USF was Doug Woolard's ticket out of C-USA (where he was while at St. Louis), not the other way around. Lee Roy Selmon was our AD, who along with Judy Genshaft got us into the Big East.

Once again, not commenting on the rest of your post, just making sure history is correctly represented. (and not a knock on you, stuff like this is easy to forget)

At the time it wasn't that dumb .... it's the old 20/20 hindsight where it looks bad.

Sure about that? When Woolard gave Skip Holtz a contract extension in July 2012, USF had lost 7 out of their last 8 games to end the 2011 season.

That has to be the WORST time to ever give a contract extension out as the team was obviously headed in the WRONG direction...and no, there wasn't any other major BCS program chewing at the bit to hire him away.

Yeah, and Woolard was able to package in an increase in his own salary as well.  Talk about fortuitous timing..............

Seeing as to how we went 5-7 the season before I wouldn't say it was wise.

And you forgot the reasoning, that the same guy on the USF board that was complaining about the team on one hand agreed about the extension at the time it was done on the other because Holtz was getting offers from other BCS schools at the time and the school didn't want to see him go to another BCS program and become successful and look like cheap ass fools for not retaining him. At that time the losses were end of game, some on the last play after major wins against ND and this happened right after beating Clemson. Again, all this talk IS HIND SIGHT and leaves out things like that or that the AD's raise WAS LINKED TO COACHING/TEAM PERFORMANCE.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
