Bull94, it's well documented that you are opposed to the high coaches and ADs salaries and the student fees.  About the student fees, their are several college choices out there and if it is a problem for someone, then they should ensure that they attend a school that doesn't have one.  No one is forced to attend USF.

sorry but state public universities mandates aren't to fund athletic departments. they are to educate the public at a reasonable cost. an athletic department should only be funded as well as it's donors allow. maybe they should use some of that $15M to keep the library open for the students. apparently budget concerns led to a cut in hours that saves the university $136k per year. a drop in the bucket compared to the $15M funneled to athletics.

Again, if one is opposed to the fees, then one can choose to attend a different university.

Without Doug Woolard we would have been UCF these past 16 years.  Wallowing away in the CUSA, if that.  Doug pulled together one hell of a deal to get us into the Big East.  They did not want us, and he worked to the deal with the schools that they did want to get us included.  That is the main reason we did not get the Big East love.

He can be blames for firing CJL, but honestly, you are blaming the prosecuting attorney for the murder conviction.  He can be blamed for Skip, he was hired by DW I guess, though honestly we all know it was a board decision of DW's recommendation.  Skip was also a hero on this board when he was hired.  A huge feather in USF's cap, we get his daddy for free, he is the anti-CJL and the fans loved him until he lost and lost and lost.

Now we have CWT, everyone was on the bus until the first stop last night.  Now you want to fire DW, why too soon to start the "fire the bus driver" stories?

Look at ALL sports, he is responsible for th budget and the management of all sports, not just football.  Look at the facilities, where all the programs are now compared to the 90's.  Hell, 5 years ago.  The nationally ranked softball team played on a field that the county would not have kept open as a little league field.  Jefferson played on a better baseball diamond than the Bulls.  The soccer team played in a donated stadium, and the offices sucked.  He rebuilt the Sun Dome, now if some of you would go to a ******* game you would see that.  OH, forgot, they are not a national champion team so it is not worth the time.

as for the ucf comment, we are now in the same conference and I believe they have built a football stadium and a new basketball arena as well as practice fields includng an indoor practice field as well as other facilities. if anything he has allowed them to pass us.

Our basketball arena is nicer, their football stadium is about as minimalistic as one can get, and their indoor practice facility is a pre-engineered metal building that's like an oven.  I don't think they've passed us on facilities.  Yes, they have an OCS and an indoor practice facility, but I wouldn't call either top-notch.

sorry but it's not that easy.

it would be just as dumb choosing not to go to a college based on athletic fees as it would be choosing a college based on successful athletics.

these are public institutions with a mandate to educate state of florida students at a reasonable price.no where does it say anything about funding bloated athletic departments that pay ADs and coaches millions at the expense of academic interests. if we were a private college that didn't take taxpayer money then I would say they have every right to spend as much of a students tuition on athletics as they want. we are not a private college.

they may not be top notch but they're certainly better than our non existent ones.

our basketball arena being nicer has nothing to do with Woolard. the foundation was in place long before woolard. they spent $70M more on their arena than we did on renovations.

Actually, it is.  If one is so opposed to the athletic fees, that also fund the fitness center, the fields, basketball courts, pools, tennis courts, etc., then they can just go somewhere else.

Also, the state allows USF to charge these fees, as someone has mentioned before.

what percentage of usf students come from the three surrounding counties? most people choose USF because of it's close proximity to where they live.

you suggest they just up and move their entire life? Like I said it's not that easy. for a great deal of usf students it truly is their only option.that's the intent of public education. to educate people that can't afford a private education.or get the quality of an education that would be impossible to pay for on their own without taxpayer help.

honestly I don't care that the "state" allows it. the "state" also allowed the marlins to build a $600M ballpark funded primarily by taxpayers. the "state" does all sorts of stupid things. by "state" I assume you mean the politicians that make these rules.

I wonder if CJL had not meddled into the investigation (allegedly) if he would have avoided termination.

Absolutely 100%.  He did himself in with his arrogant actions after the fact.

He should have been fired for the debacle of giving Holtz an extension.  WTF

Not in my opinion. There was a concerted effort to end it the way it was ended.

I am with you on this one

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
