Taggart Excited to Have Everyone Back On Board

TAMPA – Head coach Willie Taggart is excited about the possibilities in his first season with USF and said the road to building a winner starts with moving forward as a team.

Taggart and select players met with the media on Sunday, which marked reporting day for players, and the buzz around the Bulls was all about an opportunity to be special in 2013.

“We’re not going to talk about last year anymore. That’s over with,” Taggart said. “This is the 2013 team and everything we do here is on us to be the team we need to be and to make everyone proud of this football team.”

Taggart grabbed his players’ attention during the spring when he said everyone – veterans and rookies - had to earn their positions on the depth chart and the philosophy will continue in what is shaping up to be an intense camp for the Bulls. Taggart said consistency will be important with the fall depth chart moving on a daily basis, especially for a group of quarterbacks battling for a starting spot that’s very much up for grabs at this point.

“I do think we’ll get ourselves the best quarterback for our football team and I want to see someone separate themselves. To me, that’s what big-time college football is about,” Taggart said. “I think all those guys are capable and they understand they have a chance to do something special and lead this football team.”

Taggart gave no timetable for naming a quarterback, noting the competition will “define itself,” and said the important thing is to give the group the chance to compete.

“We’ll find ourselves a quarterback,” he said.

A Look Ahead

The Bulls will finish up with a team meeting Sunday night and they’ll hit the practice field for the first time 8:30 a.m. Monday on campus.

“It’s time to do something and we’re excited about that,” Taggart said.

CWT said at the BULLS Rally that he doesn't want to have the only car in Tampa driving around with flags on his car, everyday.
