I think the idea was to give the new schools extra money to ramp up facilities and athletics budget to compete at the higher level they are now at.

Only problem with this is that the new schools really aren't at a higher level than they were.

The other problem is that the three of us were probably not counting on this significant drop in revenue and could have used evry possible dollar to offset that for a couple of years ... Pay their exit fees and nothing else.

I'm with you there.

They can share in our exit fees or the liquidation of conference assets - whichever comes first.

Terrible deal for the unlucky three.  Aresco is caving to the newcomers and we cannot do anything about it, which sucks even more.  We will have to deal with it until we don't have to deal with it.

Three former Big East schools will receive 60 percent of funds

American Athletic Conference presidents agreed on how to split lucrative Big East exit fees and postseason credits that reportedly could be near $100 million.

League officials declined to reveal how much each school would receive, but UCF athletics director Todd Stansbury said in an exclusive interview with the Orlando Sentinel the schools previously in the Big East would receive about 60 percent of the revenue while the newcomers would split about 40 percent.

The deal sucks killer b's but think of it this way. W/o the other schools the league would have disbanded and we'd have no money.

This sucks! 20 million vs 30 million...equal to losing 5 years of our TV revenue.  This is a brand new conference, new members should get nothing.

If it were a brand new conference we'd be getting no money.

We should hire Chuck Neinas to represent the school as a consultant for expansion issues.
