I wonder if he had problems getting admitted into Stanford and that is why he had to take the summer classes...after that, he probably realized that Stanford was not for him.

Where does it say he took summer classes?

Edit: Hadn't seen the 247 article ... but the official release says he never enrolled.

I'd be very very surprised if it was grades.

From what I have read, Stanford does not recruit someone until they have been fully committed so I don't see how that could be the case.

Thx

Reilly can replace Eatmon and the kid michael smith I think can be a great guard next to him. Throw in the son of Zues at the other guard and the big kid who came here instead if UF Been Knox and Zac Hudson. I think that we should have a pretty good line for next 4 or 5 years.

I agree on almost anyone replacing Darryl Williams.  Eatmon peaked his Freshmen/Soph season, IMO.  Reiter will be harder to replace, but I've seen Michael Smith play in HS, and he's a grown man!

I do like the bubbas coming up in Taggart's class.  Hoping they have a mean streak, as in this O, you're either pounding people, or getting pounded.

I've seen smith in practice, that kid plays nasty. Watched him embarrass Vincent Jackson and put him on his butt with relative ease. Can't wait to see him on the field.

Saw Smith play v Dwyer last year.  Dude was crushing people, then hitting the next person in line.  That's the energy & passion we need.  That Miami Central, with Yearby & Cook behind him at RB, was crazy.  Also, the first time I saw Deatrick Nichols at CB.  Impressive, too.

Questions about Gibbons' eligibility on the Bethel thread so figured I'd bump this if anybody has any more recent news. Here's all I could find about situation:

Gibbons enrolled in two summer classes at Stanford but did not attend the classes he enrolled in for the fall term, according to his father, Shannon Gibbons. Because he did enroll, it will be up to the NCAA whether Gibbons will be eligible for the 2015 season. Gibbons will start taking classes and working out with the football team in January.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
