I think patience will be key...

Something this fan base has never had.

Correction: Loads of patience up through about late 2007 or 2008. The first 10 years were the greatest yet. Patience and growth. It was a wonderful time. Small fan base that was supportive. Then suddenly a larger fan base, some exposure and no patience.

But I guess when you say "this fan base" referring to today's, you're likely right. I'm thinking way back to those that have been around since it was started.

Ever since the #2 ranking...

Dungy is often around USF Sports.

A few years ago, I saw him wheeling in a kid in a wheelchair to a basketball game. Sat in handicap area with him. Took him for concessions near half. Left about 10 minutes early, with no help from anyone. Just took a kid to the game, and it isn't one of his kids.

Dungy is class.

Thanks to Tony for assisting our search. DW refers to Tony as a "friend".

Dungy is definitely someone for kids to look up to. He does a lot for the Tampa Bay Area.

Either way, "this fan base" needs to exhibit some patience in terms of wins and losses and conference championships, but no patience regarding effort, attitude and desire. At the least, we should expect our coach to be competent and our players to play the entire game with heart. Something I think we have lacked over the last few years.

Agreed. Been there like many since day 1. Would travel to Oklahoma, Alabama, etc just hoping to play well. Then 2007 came and I couldn't believe how many Bulls fans there were. I know people don't like to hear we are young but we still are. The mere fact that Dungy is associated with us is huge. My buddy is a huge Ohio State fan. I told him who we hired and he responded - Who?? Then I said Dungy was in on the interviews and recommended Taggart and he instantly started researching our new coach. Dungy beinga part adds massive credibility to those who might have otherwise questioned the hire. Great move Doug!

An article in today's Tribune indicated that Dungy was asked to take the job after CJL was fired, but declined.

Also, you never want to be the man who follows the legend.

You always want to be the man who follows the man who follows the legend.

Can't blame us for at least asking Dungy to take the job. He's a class act and great role model for the tampa bay area
