Is Shannon a real possibility or a long shot at best?

Looks like Shanon is being considered for the FSU DC position

Welcome to Randy Shannon version 2.0.

Great recruiter, average gameday coach.

and if you think this is a racist comment, i challenge you to prove to me his back to back 7-5 records lead to anything otherwise. as someone said earlier, he is just too UNPROVEN, which is why this hire makes me mad. DW had a chance to right the ship and knock it out of the park, with someone like Butch Davis, who has proven to assemble national championship florida programs as well as winning BCS games (sugar bowl). at the very least, would have assembled a solid coaching staff.

instead, we are stuck with a Skip Holtz-like hire.

I was excited when i read the Butch quotes today, but it was just too late. Im sure Dougie sent out feelers to him but prbly didnt get the result he hoped for with them.

And I challenge you to examine what he actually accomplished in three years at a fledgling FBS school, dragging them from being a doormat program in less than time than any reasonable person thought was possible. Looking only at records when evaluating a coach is simple and deceptive. As to being another Shannon, their career paths have literally nothing in common.

I too had BD as my #1, but this is still a terrific hire. I did not realize the BD was 61 years old. I would rather have a young, hungry coach. I think Taggs is a good choice.

Since we're already bullshitting around about the race card.... don't think for a SECOND that he being the only African-American coach in the state won't help in his recruiting! It sure as hell will

What kind of offense does he run? Might have to go and see if ESPN 3 has any WKU games.

A power based simplified West Coast offense. The Harbaugh system. 2-3 TE sets with TEs intermittently blocking or out on patterns. Harbaugh tends to aim for a 50/50 split on running and passing. Stronger roles for FBs and not so many sideways plays - a lot more up the gut based on strong fundamentals and hitting assignments.

Good assessment. The kind of offense I have wanted.

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”
