Lol, no comparison. Let's just leave it at a tale of two fan bases. This school needs money badly, ND prints money easily.

Just think last year we opened the season at ND on the road and beat them, Since than USF has fallen to horrific levels. 3 win season(worse in program history). ND is 3 qt's away from playing in the BCS NC game.

Thanks Skippy.

one program trending upwards

another trending downwards

one team had talent with upside

the other didnt

one team had good coaches

the other didnt

does anyone else shake their head when you hear how USC should consider firing Lane Kiffin but somehow Holtz just plods along with no real hot seat factor?

college football is so odd sometimes. Not to compare ourselves to USC by any means-- but it seems a little telling that as bad as our record has been, that we seem to accept the situation currently. Maybe it is simply the process Woolard stands behind- but at some point even the calm reflection to make a sound decision or whatever he hell it is we are doing-- it needs to be shaken up and somewhat reactionary.

You are not getting the job done-- you are fired. Next coach please. Why is this such a difficult thing to do?

The sad fact is that USC has the money to make that happen. Hell Auburn is paying Gene Chizzik $7.5 million not to coach (~$210,000 a month for 36 months) and I hear it's about $11.05 million total including assistants.

USF did a great job stepping up the salary pool to get Holtz, but there's probably not a whole lot left in the coffers after paying Leavitt's exit fee. I'm sure USF can afford to fire Holtz, but there probably wouldn't be a whole lot left in the tank.

At least we didn't go absolutely insane and do what UCF did with O'Leary and give Skip a 10 or 11 year contract

Don't forget about Florida's return to the top... also don't forget when we beat Clemson in Charlotte, UGA was beaten and embarrassed by UCF in the Liberty Bowl... now they are #3 and have a shot at the title game.

Many, many, many programs that were in worse shape then us have been able to reload and rebuild themselves since Skip got the reigns and drove us off the cliff.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
