The best we can hope from this is that ESPN continues to devalue the BE and USF is a part of the invites to ACC or Big 12. Key word, HOPE Dickie V nailed it ... Money trumps everything.

Horrible news for the NBE. Good timing for ESPN to broker this deal. We're still in the exclusive negotiating window with them, so this makes our conference less valuable, therefore they will low-ball us even more. Yup, this has ESPN back-door tactics written all over it. ESPN is single-handedly destroying college football. They've effectively reduced the amount of haves to 63 (Pac12, Big12, ACC, SEC, Big10 and ND), which all but eliminates the have nots (every other conference and team) from competing for a national championship. The loss of them for basketball hurts slightly, but there are not a huge amount of Notre Dame basketball fans. This is by far the one loss that hurts the least. It only effects basketball and olympic sports. We still have 13 schools for football with one more on the way. Its not the doomsday scenario, its just makes it look like we are still not a stable conference. That perceptions hurts us more than the move itself. the death nail will be Ville and the other school that leaves.

At face value it hurts the least, but the perception of the conference takes another huge hit. The Big East is open game for anyone to come in and take whatever they want. I hope those who went to ND last year enjoyed the trip... not going to see us playing them ever again with this decision! Bad timing, but insiders who are doing the negotiations probably knew about this for sometime, we are hearing about it now, but insiders must have known for sometime... Yes, it hurts us. Next round of expansion will be all BE. Lets just hope we are somehow miraculously included.
