he deserves this type of recognition

HOWEVER-- in the overall scheme of things, this is the type of thing that can wait until he is done in the NFL. He certainly isn't worried about it. We aren't dissing him.

I would want Kawika Mitchell in there. Possibly JR Reed. Andre Hall-- sure. Lots of guys had a solid impact and we have nothing but time to honor them. Look how long it took the Bucs to honor LRS. He was in the HOF and had a highway named after him before they finally put him on the wall.

seriously-- there is no rush. we have time to let our former players know how how much they meant to a program. But to say he isn't qualified for not being a student long enough is pure nonsense and over the top.

EDIT-- as for the eligibility-- he is out of eligibility. Some might tie that to graduation-- something he could still accomplish eventually.

"Other contributions deemed to be of historic consequence"

I would think a large donation from JPP would help as well

Kawika should be the next football player in the USF HOF.

USF HOF ELIGIBILITY

Former USF Student Athletes

Student athletes are eligible five (5) years after completion of eligibility to compete at USF or any other NCAA institution, and the student athlete must have completed his or her eligibility at USF. Candidates must not have been dismissed from the University of South Florida or its athletics program.

EXAMPLES OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS THAT MAY RECOMMEND HALL OF FAME CONSIDERATION

Former USF Student Athletes:

â–  Participation at the highest levels of sport

â–  NCAA championshipâ€level competition

â–  Setting a USF, NCAA and/or World Record

â–  Participation in the Olympics or other IOCâ€recognized international competitions

â–  Participation on National Teams

â–  Receiving Allâ€America, NCAA and/or Conference Honors

â–  Professional accomplishments

â–  Other contributions deemed to be of historic consequence

Nomination Procedure

To make a nomination for the 2012 class of the USF Hall of Fame, please review the eligibility information on the following page and submit a letter of nomination that includes the following information:

â–  Your name and contact information (address, telephone number and email address) All nominations should be sent to:

Pam Prado

University of South Florida Athletics

4202 E. Fowler Avenue, ATH 100

Tampa, Florida 33620

pprado@admin.usf.edu

Fax: (813) 974â€0008

â–  The name of your nominee, and his or her contact information (if available)

â–  The varsity sport in which your nominee competed, and years of participation

â–  Supporting information about the nominee’s contributions to USF Athletics, including any honors received, records attained, postâ€graduate achievements, and any other comments you would like the Hall of Fame Executive Committee to consider.

I was mistaken about pro accomplishments, but IMO JPP didn't accomplish enough at USF to warrant selection to the USF HOF

Sorry JPP, you don't qualify. But you are a hall of famer in my book.

Pretty sure that just means they can't have any eligibility remaining, which is certainly true of Pierre-Paul. You don't think a three-year starter at quarterback who was good enough to leave a year early and go to the NFL would be eligible? Of course he would.

Raiders were always good for a few lousy picks.

Who the hell would you vote in before him??? Ben Moffitt???? PULLEEEZ.

I guess Andre Hall shouldn't go in either since he was only here, what, two years?

Comparing his 1 season at USF to Andre Hall's 2 seasons would be ludicrous.

Professional Accomplishments! Check, please!

Plus, Participation at the highest levels of sport ... It's a no brainer that he will be under consideration.

I believe JPP has performed well enough and will be accomplished enough at the end of his career to get a place in the hall of fame. He has brought more positive attention to USF in a single year than most will in four.
