In every big from 2006 thru 2009, one name stands out.

Nate Allen.

I liked special teams ace Armando Sanchez!

That guy was dirty-dirty!

Very unselfish player who could have played a number of positions.

I am really hoping that USF offers his brother LB Auggie Sanchez who put up fantastic numbers last year and is much bigger than Armando. Don't know why we haven't.

I joke to some extent, but in all seriousness this guy had to have 75%+ of the special teams tackles when he was on the field.

We missed him last year when he got hurt.

I know he didn't play here, but Lee Roy Selmon is the first name that pops into my mind. He did so much for USF Football.

Let me tie up the loose ends, as it was part of my calculus. In my mind, those guys are remebered as guys that didn't reach their full potential, and in my opinion (since this is the topic), they were quite a disappointing bunch.

Then, guys like Moise Plancher and Ben Williams should be your favorite, if you're merely searching for overachievers. (I don't mind that metric for a favorite FWIW.)

Whether they ('07 bunch) reached their full potential or not, they were the best team we've had arguably. Hence, my picking of the face of the bunch. Grothe.

Gunner is the term used for players that excel at tackling on ST.

In terms of impact on and off the field, I'd have to lean towards saying both Grothe and Blackwell

His son "Jr" was a pretty good player for USF.
