They can still defend because Heath has always had good defensive teams, but the pace will have to pick up or we're going to struggle to win enough games to get back to the NCAAT. This will be a good defensive team but the way they defend won't be the same w/o Gus, Ron, and Hugh.

On another note I wonder how much Heath is enjoying the "ugly style reference" during the zenith of recruiting? Heath certainly became more hostile towards anyone labeling USF as an "ugly unwatchable team that set the game back 30 years" towards the end of last season.

When Heath recruits he normally promises these young guys that they will play at a faster pace then what they have been told by others. Judging by the way recruiting has gone so far I think "Iba Ball" is hurting USF.

I thought Heath and the team embraced it at the end of the season. See his quote in my signature. People tried to put us down by calling us ugly, but they started to respect us because we won those games.

And I don't think the team this year will need to pick up the pace. If they defend as they did last year, I would rather they improve their offensive efficiency rather than make the game faster.

Nash transferring is not a big deal. In fact its something I've come to expect now under Heath. He seems to be improving the talent pool at USF and the lower end of the bench has been transferring out

Not sure we can be AS good defensively, but we obviously have more offensive talent this year. That will likely dictate a bit faster pace on its own.
