Totally agree the JC route would seem best for him. Too bad if he's good, another talented home product (my home town!) would be killer. He needs that PT though.

Weird...has to sit out 2 years.  Doesn't seem right, but the either way, AAC transfer is punitive.  Clearly his best route is to JUCO, and if he's good, get a look from a lot of differerent programs.

Good luck to him...at least he's being honest about why.  Hard to fault him for that.

wonder which one is correct, the one I posted yesterday said a player lose two year but only sit one....either way, makes more sense to get his AA if he wants to come home & play.

My understanding of the rules precisely mirrors the NBC article.

Checking out Benny Coney's stats. He had an impressive senior year.

His completion percentage is .600 and he had a 30/7 TD to INT ratio his senior year...

He didn't rush much in his senior year, but he averaged 12 yards per rush in 24 attempts.

I wouldn't mind bringing him on, but if he doesn't become a starter, he may not be too pleased...

He was an oustanding QB for Plant City, and he wants to come home and get a shot at playing time.

He needs to be smart about this and go JUCO for a year, then transfer in. It's not like we have a starting QB locked in right now; if things don't get significantly better this year at the QB position, then Coney could very well come in and play 2015.

The more competition we have at QB, the better.

This is going off-topic..but yes.

word was that he was looking at USF/UCF as landing spots.

Again another case where he should go JUCO then come in.

Happens all the time, sadly - guys rely on empty promises to go to a decent but not incredible program like Cincy and them desperately want to come back home. TJ should have stayed here tonbegin with, I'm sure he realizes that now.

Flipping through some games and just heard the announcers say, "Benny Coney has been outstanding tonight."

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
