Grothe def overachieved , but the article makes a good point of our fans really having no one else to compare him to.

i think the writer is saying Grothe is overrated in USF fans eyes.

The majority of the players are overrated in the fans eyes.  That is why we are fans.

Im a fan of USF and many pro teams.  There are plenty of overrated players on those teams.

thats why there is so many pissing matches on this board, some goggle wearing fans cannot look at anything with an unbiased mind.

anything negative said about usf and hell breaks loose.

as an oldschooler, MB > MG.

I remember we all thought Carlton Hill was going to be Mike Vick.

Short sited article/post.

It's a Rutgers blog ... I honestly can't believe there's a serious discussion concerning it.

The article is funny coming from the fanbase that thought Tom Savage was going to be Peyton Manning and Chas Dode was going to be Doug Flutie.

Oh man, I remember being jacked up when we got Carlton Hill. Then I remember being seriously PO'd in Charlotte when he fumbled the ball away on two straight offensive plays, one of which came directly after the defense bailed him out and got the ball back from the first time.

Grothe became the Big East all time yards leader in three years. Pretty good for a guy that didn't have the big time hype coming out of high school. No way was he overrated. Perhaps some may say overhyped at times, but every QB receives a lot of exposure at every level of football. If anything, I would say Grothe was under rated. His first year he didn't have any running backs with any expeerience and he carried the team on his back, ALONE for his first 2 years. Certainly not overrated.

Let's see what happens with BJ with some actual, experienced, skill position players with him this year. Having some help on offense, plus not having to try to figure the offense out on the fly and not feeling like he has to do everything on every play by himself is going to make a big difference.

Old schoolers know that MB was as good as Grothe if not better when it came to TD/INTs.

New schoolers argue MB didn't play at the same level of competition, and that's a conversation killler.

I'll take MB ANY DAY.

MB also didn't have the OL that Grothe had. We did play some good teams in MB's day.

I also agree with you that Matt was underrated.

MB helped elevate our program and Matt did the same.

"keep getting overrated"?

Barnhardt - who cared, who knew

Blackwell - underrated

Grothe - underrated

Banks - no serious expectations

Julmiste - no serious expectations

Gauntt -  no serious expectations

Daniels - maybe, perhaps, still TBD IMHO

I didn't follow the link or read the article, but I guess it's about BJ Daniels.

\YOU NEED GOOD QB PLAY TO WIN IN COLLEGE

USF HAS NEVER WON anything

Lol, how can we forget Carlton Hill? Even better one, do you remember the legend that was Evan Kraky?

Looks like the article is from Rutgers. When have they won anything?
