... I'd be elated with a 7-5 record and a bowl game. ...

I never will be, no matter the situation.

Here are my expectations... I have none...  ;)

We have a brand new coaching staff for the first time in the history of our program, we lost Selvie, JPP, Mitchell, Allen, and even our very own Ricky Williams, Mike Ford... but we did not lose everyone.

On the flip side the Gayturds lost Tebow and co. and a number of other key players, coaches, and might not even have Meyer coaching on the sidelines against us.

Thus I'm very optimistic about the Gayturd game and about the Miami game as well. I'm optimistic about the Gayturds for the reasons I stated above, and I'm very optimistic about the Miami game because, well, last season we beat ourselves in my opinion. We looked sloppy against a Miami team that barely beat their heated rival FSU by a field goal which was the same FSU team that we man handled. In my opinion we lost to Miami not because they were better but because our coaching and prep stunk.

I also think we can possibly beat Cincy this season since they lost their coaching guru that always had our number... other then that all bets are off.

I would like to see us go 10-2 but I think we could possibly go 5-7 easily... its hard to say because I don't know how all of the turn over will effect us.

I'll be happy if we can do the following next season:

(1). Beat Rutgers by 30 points.

(2). Beat Cincy by any points.

(3). Finish 2nd or 3rd in the Big East

(4). Beat either Florida or Miami

I also agree that we will be working on getting better and that the 2011 and 2012 seasons are the ones to watch for. But with that said there are few things that I will be looking for this year.

#1 Better offensive play calling, more RB use, screens to WR, use of TE

#2 Defense playing more disciplined

#3 BJ developing as a passing QB, short passes and timing patterns.

#4 End of midseason slide.

#5 Not getting BLOWN out in conference games.

So with that said this is how I see it.

Stony Brook- WIN

Florida- LOSS

Western Kentucky- WIN

FAU- WIN

Cuse- WIN

West Virginia-Toss up

Cincy- TOSS Up

Rutgers- WIN

Louisville-WIN

Pitt- toss up

Miami-LOSS

UConn- toss up

So Im hoping for 8-4, 5-2 in Big East and Champs Bowl. or 7-5, 4-3

But hope to be in EVERY game and thats what I hope to see from this team , one that doesnt get blown out and plays hard all game long.

disciplin...

The end of stupid penalties...

Careful use of timeout's...

Defense that can stop the RUN...

Offense that can play the BLITZ...

NO SECOND HALF COLLAPSE...

...maybe I am asking TOO MUCH.

with the talent we have wins and losses will take care of themselves IF the new coaches fix these things and a few others.

I have no optimism for this year. We will have so many new players on defense. That will hurt badly. Unless Hayes has an Andre Hall breakthrough quickly, our offense won't be much better. I hope for better situational play calling, but BJ's strength was his running last year. I don't expect him to all of a sudden turn into what Brian Brohm was. All other areas of the offense is completely unproven.

Right now the only wins you can safely feel confident about are stoneybrook, Fau and WKU. Nothing else s guaranteed. Maybe we get lucky and win 2 more, but I see 5 wins as a stretch this year. Too many unknowns and too many new players.

We won't have Jerome Murphy. Should be better on defense.

Ahhh  someone who understands one of the important things in college football  -  food

First game for us is aways wings  followed by -in no paticular order- another wings,  good old burgers made the way you like em with all the fixens, brats & dogs with home made potatoe salad-southern style,  shrimp boil which has turned into a favorite and then the home coming feast of steaks, shrimp, lobster & alaskan king crab claws with a multitude of sides to many to list(we eat before and after the game).  Lots of cold beer and if things get crazy the Jager comes out.

so we are going to have "smart" penalties this year ?  j/k -

Actually considering we had a redshirt freshman starting last year we did pretty good on the timeouts.

I sure hope we can stop the run but don't hold your breath especially when we play Pitt.
