Since the day we signed him i always maintained that he needed to be a slot/RB hybrid and not a pure RB. Get a kid with his skill set in space and good things happen. Many down lineman also do Field events. Living next door to his former HS, I saw him play as a senior, and I can tell you he was never afraid to take a hit, so I would not say he was a track star playing football. I didn't know that you live in Seminole Heights. I'm over in Wellswood. I grew up in East Seminole Heights. Went to the 'Borough. I said go Terriers to LL Saturday he smiled, once a Terrier always a Terrier.

If he stays in the RB slot then he will be hurt more often then not.Ha already has been moved to WR, on the new depth chart. In that case then he will be a great asset... his speed is unmatched. He could run the wildcat if he gains some weight. He led hillsborough county in rushing as a senior and had some nice runs last year. He is definitely a football player. You can tell my house, it has the U flying everywhere from flags on the fence to a sign in the driveway. I went to Jefferson, but my wife's business partner went to Hills., and lived in Wellswood.I was talking to the Terrier football team Sunday at the Italian Festival, they were selling drinks. They were pumped about USF football, seeing Lamar and Mitchell play on Saturdays. It was good to hear them talk about our program.

Leavitt didn't have Lamar for a year, he had him for 5 months (and most of that time was during the season when Lamar was injured almost immediately, and coaches rarely make many roster experimentations during seasons), and the staff was already posturing to take a peek of him at WR this spring. Skip's move was because of recommendations from the previous staff, Phil, Carl...discussioned and plans they already had for the kid. You can now remove your lips from Skip's rear. Also, Lamar has football skills and experience. A track guy playing football...those days are gone. You need true football skills and knowledge these days and can't just yank a guy off the track and tell him to play football to much skill and speed overall in the college and pro game to do that. Lamar has been playing football since he was in pee-wee leagues. He'll be fine skill wise, but the question is can be build himself up physically to be able to sustain punishment at this level while he runs track. He may need to consider putting aside track for a year to concentrate on bulking up and getting stronger for the good of his game. There is no foregone conclusion he'll fare any better at WR, he got injured against Syracuse catching a swing pass and getting stoned by a safety...whatever position he plays he'll need to bulk up for this level. There is no way around it you can't play a bunch at 150-160lbs.

It could become a great source of talent. I wish Jefferson would get on board as well. If we could also talk some Lakeland 'Naughts into the program, they build some monsters up there. CJL was able to do that down in Bradenton well, would like to see Tampa and Polk get on board.
