Just a simple question: Why will we win this Thursday?

Try to be objective, all bias aside.

Objective analysis with absolutely no bias.

The USF Bulls will win because:

1.  Our team is taking it personal that we have lost the last three years to these WKRP clowns.

2.  Our defense will be at a speed and hitting level exceeding the FSU game.

3.  The Bulls defense will have a minimum of three TO's and will have 21 points off of TO's.

4.  The secondary will clamp down on the Pike to Gilyard connection limiting the impact.

5.  The Bulls are home and "No One, I Repeat No One, Comes Into Our House and Pushes Us Around"

6.  Cincy has National Championships dancing around in their heads, and they won't have the focus required of Thursday night.

7.  Defense trumps offense and the Bulls defense is better than the Meerkats.

8.  Our offensive line wiill play like studs and open up copius holes to allow for nearly 200 yards of rushing.

9.  Lindsay Lamar will have a return for a TD.

10. Our team wants it MORE!!

We'll focus on stopping the run and the big play.  Make Cinci break one or string together a lot of completions per drive.  We'll get a couple big defensive plays ourselves.

On offense this will be our biggest dose of Mike Ford yet, we'll also see more designed running from BJ and try to dial up a couple big ones.  Offense has been good this year about using all the field in the passing game, cause BJ has the arm to really fire in some mid range passes, really can make a difference when your QB can drill some passes in on 3rd and longs.  Just one more such conversion a game is huge.  We will want our offense to stay on the field!

Ultimately we will win because we have guys at every level of the defense capable of making that play.  Nate Allen, JPP, Joseph, K Wilson, Murphy, Selvie almost now an afterthought and I think a freak like J Williams could end up in the right spot sometime Thursday too.   When you can put that many talents on the defense, the gaps Kelly and Pike are trying to pick apart will be the smallest they've been since the Orange Bowl last year.

We're the best defense Cincy has seen all year.

With a heavy dose of Mike Ford as well as Cincy's abysmal TOP average we'll wear down their defense that'll also have to contain BJ's feet and his cannon arm.

We have the fastest DB's and LB's they'll face all year. Gilyard, et al. won't get their usual YAC stats.

They haven't faced a team that could get enough pressure on Pike with just the front 4. We will. Those short passes are going to be more difficult with the extra (and fast) coverage.

Our defense may even be better than people are giving us credit for. Despite the W-L record, FSU offense has been nearly as prolific as Cincy's and against much better competition than UC has faced. We shut them down.

I believe our full offense has yet to be released completely. Our offense will be better than their defense.

Because we have an "NFL quality" line per 'Cuse. Because we didn't just beat FSU, we beat them up. We have players on both sides of the ball that will be playing on Sunday. We have coordinators that are the best we have ever had. I don't think many thought we would be undefeated at this point. So this team isn't meeting its expectations, its exceeding them. Its not saying, its doing. And I think USF is doing a great job making the Tampa Bay area aware of the game and support the team. As pointed out, with the Rays and Bucs not going anywhere, Tampa is ripe for the Bulls being the focus of the town.

Because the higher ranked team always loses on Thursday nights.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
