I know I answered my own question...

But I bolded the games I think may be worthy.  We're not much worse than the other match-ups that weekend.  Nothing jumps out as outstanding.  Our game could be the most interesting.

What if FSU simply looks horrible in their two main games?

not sure I agree.

I think CJL might finally start running up the 1-AA scores to help boost the rankings.

In any event, seriously hoping both teams are 3-0 and that we are big underdogs.

We win in that case and we'll def be ranked aterwards.

Not that I would hate it, but I really don't care if we are ranked after the fourth game.  It means nothing.  I am more interested in being ranked at the end of the season.

We're paying these teams GOOD money to come get their beating.  Now let's not be shy about taking what's ours!  In the past CJL has been like someone paying for an expensive buffet while on a diet.  Hell no!  You don't go to a buffet unless you're prepared to get your money's worth.  Buffets aren't set up for those who count calories and neither are games against schools like this.  You blow them out so bad that the pollsters have to wonder if it was on par with the way their higher ranked teams would've performed.  If we're only putting up 35 points on these small programs, do you really think the UFs, Southern Cal and Oklahoma's of the world would only do that?  Hell no, they'd pull out all the stops until they made sure they hung 50!

Pollsters are only going to see the score and unless you embarrass these teams, it's a LOSS in college football when the teams around you are blowing their weak opponents to kingdome come.

If we utterly destroy these teams, put 60 points on three opponents in a row, they'll have a hard time not buying into the hype.  Bc bad teams don't put up 60 regardless of the opponent.

This could be a possibility and if so then it could be a game in which every one thinks that we could win and a loss could be viewed as a major step backwards.

Running up the scores on 1 AA's isn't going to do anything for our ranking.

I think it's pretty safe to say that we will try to be as basic as possible on offense and defense for the 3 games.

FSU will be when we open the playbook a bit.

Assuming they lose to BYU the week before us, I think we could be favored.

Are you guys so sure that we will beat Western Kentucky?  I'm not so confident with us perhaps looking ahead to Florida State.

What I want to see in those first three games isn't as simple as a lopsided score--- that is really not important to a team as young as ours is right now.

my priorities are simply this:

1) win the game

2) get a nice early lead and start getting playing time for all the backups and new guys we aren't redshirting

3) NO ONE GETS HURT-- especially the starters and linemen

All the polls I have seen have FSU being ranked heading into the season. USF is showing up on the edge of those rankings. It is possible that we will be ranked going into the game but again---- very little importance that early in the season. The time you want to be ranked is at the end of the year.  I hope FSU comes in ranked as high as possible and with as good a record as possible, allowing us to beat them with no excuses about "down year" or "fluke win". That said-- a win up there will be pretty significant to the program regardless. I am not betting the house on it no matter what the spread looks like.

ps- I would guess that the Cal-Oregon game is the Game Day location that weekend
