coliseum is on usc's campus

Technically...the Coliseum is about 20 feet OFF campus at USC.

One side of the street is USC...the other is "off-campus".

But one can't have another facility SOOOOO close but be considered "off-campus".

OCS thread at TheBullsPen is the equivalent to a Jerry Springer episode.

How would you compare Spartan games back then to Bulls games today in terms of excitement, attendance, etc?

Keep in mind this was in a totally different environment.  No Bucs, Lightening, Rays  ... nothing, nada.

In the final years of the program it was very exciting.  Freddie Solomon, John Matuszak, Leon McQuay and many others were quite talented.

Crowds for FAMU and Miami games were about 40K, most games were mid-20s.

Always played Saturday nights, no TV issues.

Hope that helps.

Why build an OCS when you have a top notch NFL stadium to play in?  Let's start getting mad that we don't have enough decorations (although each year this gets better).  Let's campaign for a USF Bulls logo on the big (rotating) advertisement boards.  Let's petetion for painting the freakin' field every game.  If there's a Bucs game, we repaint that night afterwards, barring rain, it can't take that long to dry.

Not going to happen.  The Buc's make millions off of those advertising boards.  Those boards are paid for by companies that expect those advertisments to be there 24/7.  If USF wants a logo there, let them pay for it.

I don't know why USF can't paint the field, but if it is as easy as you would say, I would think the Bucs would have done it.

Turkey - How would you compare Spartan games back then to Bulls games today in terms of excitement, attendance, etc?

I only went to 2 games and as I recall the stadium was only about half full....I don't really remember much about it as it almost 40 years ago and I wasn't a UT fan and was there mostly to kill time...I was from out of state and there wasn't much going on in Tampa back then...to me it was a "cowtown".  Typical small college football for the time period is how I would describe it.  Bench seating, no jumbotrons or stereo sound systems, luckily the coeds were part of the "free love" generation ;D

MONEY: USF saves money by playing at RJS, but investing in an OCS ups the schools value. It's like buying your own house instead of renting an apartment, you just increased your financial value.

Do you have a degree in finance from UCF?

;D
