Please. Read my posts. I said I wouldn't be upset if we got him, he's a very good QB. In MY opinion there are QB's that are better suited in this year's High School class than Matt, especially with the potential distractions.

I could be like every other post and be like "That is great! Yeah...blue skys...Phil Simms as Offensive Coordinator...yeah!" I was just pointing out what I feel is a VERY valid point.

Whether you and the football staff agree with my opinion or not is to be left to you/them.

Bien,

I never said Leavitt sought out Matt or Phil. I was merely making a point that as talented as this kid is I don't believe IN MY OPINION, it's the best thing for this program. He's not going to bring some influx of recruits that will make us a powerhouse.

The fact that his brother is the starting QB in a major US city where the Bucs are king could hurt.

Phil Simms spoke out against the media for his 24 year old son last year. People said it when Chris was at Texas, Simms is very protective and controlling of his sons.

Be clearer, but be careful because sometimes you say things that step past fact.  Phil put this ball in motion moreso then Leavitt.  Where it plays out is anyone's guess but it doesn't mean we're walking away from other talents.

Also, those at that camp believe that by the end of the year Simms will be mentioned with the best QB's in the country.  The colleges sure think so, because the offers have been rolling in from virtually everyone.

As for your opinions on whether it would be good for the program...I agree somewhat but his arm, poise also could be quite valued in a passing offense.

Eli Manning a MUCH more sought after recruit went to Ole Miss, he worked wonders while there, but you didn't see top recruits following him there.

Matt Simms is not even in Eli's league as far as ability coming out of high school.

About living with his brother. Chris is a partier, he's been at Ybor...a lot, and has been known to live that lifestyle. Do you really want our starting QB living the "party lifestyle" in a major US city while quarterbacking this team.

I would much rather have Alton Voss or Taylor Beasly, than have to worry about a kid who's brother is the starting QB for the biggest sports draw in Tampa and who's Super Bowl MVP father is obsessed with their performance. (Hell he spoke out for Chris (24 years old) LAST year when the media ate him up a little)

Maybe they didn't flock there, but we lost a couple to Ole Miss during this last class (see Dexter McCluster)...

Texas might, but they just got Jevan Snead and Sherrod Harris last year (both top 20 QBs) and have commits from John Brantley (probably the number 2 QB after Claussen) and John Chiles (who will be a WR/RB/DB in the end) this year.

They really don't need much more in the QB department.

All I know is Don Bosco Prep is a powerhouse every year in the state of NJ, and it could only help with recruiting in Jersey for USF.  I'm not saying people will come to play with him, but it would have some sort of pull with the kids from that state who want to play Division 1A football in Florida and be a part of the Big East.

And saying he isn't the right fit doesn't make sense to me either.  If this kid can complete 60 percent of his passes, then I'd take my chances on him.  I'd also think this would help attendance.  For Bucs fans who haven't given USF a shot they might reconsider if a Simms is QBing the Bulls.
