83 is a tad rambunctious at times but he's growing on me ......... in a smazza like way.

flsportsfan83 is only bad in the fact he wants huggins here, other than that he is ok in my book.  as far as texas goes, we don't need to say 2 for 1's, why can't we just do a 1 for 1 with them?  also where in the article does it say texas has contacted usf?  it doesn't, it says espn has contacted usf about broadcasting a game with us vs texas

That's nice.  So you disagree.  Maybe if you didn't sound so arrogant, I'd take you a little more seriously.

Mentioning Marshall, Tulane, Louisville and Fresno State's great seasons might hold water if the same rules then apply now.  If today's rules applied then, Tulane in 1998, Marshall in 1999, and Miami(Ohio) in 2003, Utah in 2004(Boise State and Louisville would not because they ranked lower) would have all made a BCS bowl game.  TCU would have barely barely made it in 2005 because they finished above 16th and the ACC champion finished below them.  Since so many would have made it EVEN with 1 loss, that arguement isn't quite as good as it used to be.

If you honestly think UNC and Kansas are "big name" schools in football, you are horribly mistaken.  UNC was a top 20 program a number of years ago, but most wouldn't know that cause they are not a football name.  They were barely blips on the radar, if that.  Kansas hasn't had a good program in years.  They finally did ok this year.  While playing them(assuming you win) is a good stepping stone moving from a BCS newbie to possible champion, to call them a big name would be an insult to actual big name schools.

I did say that USF playing a 2for1 with Texas is not a bad thing and a win or close game could definitely help in defining the program, but it's not required.  Is it really such an ego buster to play a 3 game series with 2 away games even against an elite opponent?  Hell, they came to USF and asked for the series and offered a home game.  That should say something in itself.  As a member of an 8 team conference, there a huge hole to fill in OOC games.  I'd rather play a powerhouse team like Texas and be respected as a team that is willing to go play than a team who goes and plays some I-AA just to have the home game.

USF is BCS affiliated, don't get me wrong.  Wake Forest is as well.  Even Temple was until just a bit ago.  However, USF is not defined and respected as "BCS".  That's going to take a while and it would be very arrogant and ignorant to truely believe otherwise.

You guys are still looking at things as if the BigEast's automatic BCS bid is going to go away. That is simply not going to happen, and any question was removed with WVU demolishing the SEC champion.

BTW, one of the reasons UCF never took advantage of it's up-and-coming tag it earned back in the late 1990s was b/c you overscheduled. USF fans warned you about the perils of over scheduling but you told us "we know better." HA!  Out of the 27 BCS games you played you have only won 1 game. All the close games don't mean a thing if you don't win. All those games did nothing for your program, yet here you are again, mortaging the future.

Well put Cyber, and if it went over Dawg's head I decided it was useless trying to explain otherwise.  USF has nothing to prove, and no reason to over-schedule or take disadvantaged opportunities.  Until there is a necessity to schedule a certain tema then it's better USF thinks with it's pocketbook.

Please, play 5 Sisters of the Poor OOC games and win the conference.  It means it will be that much easier for a non-BCS conference team to get in.  Cyber, none of us know what will happen in 5 or 10 years.  The only thing we can do is play with the system that is in the here and now, which plays in your favor.  I never said playing a Texas like team is a must, it's just good for extra exposure for a growing program.  Playing 5 patsy OOC games and winning the conference is going to make the conference look weaker than it actually is.

Bien, it's more of idealism than capitalism that gives me my opinion.  We all know how far idealism goes in this sort of stuff(not very).

I understand Dawg, unfortunately, or fortunately it depends who is formulating the opinion, idealism and capitalism don't often mesh in college athletics- particularly 1-A football.

In the day of teams making more money on home games, on BCS games being $17M pay days, on just win your conference and you get $17M, on SOS now not actually counting toward the BCS rankings....In the end all the best teams should play each other, and everyone should be getting 1 and 1, this is the NCAA right?  However, reality doesn't dictate, and thus it's all relative based on each teams perspective

The truth that hurts you guys is that we don't play 5 sisters of the poor. I'll give you that McNeese State and UCF won't do anything for our national rep, but beating average UNC and Kansas teams says that we are better than average. Don't forget, UNC recently beat UM and Kansas played in bowl game last year. So these are exactly chump teams.

If USF gets through the back end of the schedule in what should likely be two Top 25 teams in UL and WVU, that will get us all the publicity we need. you are once again undervaluing the worth of playing in a BCS conference.
