This is a Tampa issue and she should not be worried about a team that visits the area and SUPPORT the city's University - USF !

Do Not let the woman represent your city of Tampa.

City Officials Debating Whether To Honor Yankees

Published: Jan 20, 2006

TAMPA - City council members appear to be big Yankees fans.

"They're part of the fiber of this community," Councilwoman Rose Ferlita said at Thursday's council meeting. "It's not about the number of days. It's about what they do for the community."

At issue is whether the Yankees, the baseball team that has spring training here, should be honored on city welcome signs that herald the area's professional sports titles. The "City of Champions" signs recognize the Buccaneers' Super Bowl win, the Lightning's Stanley Cup win and the Storm's arena football victories, but no World Series victories.

Mayor Pam Iorio says the Yankees are not Tampa's home team. Ferlita says the Tampa Bay Devil Rays are based in St. Petersburg.

Councilman John Dingfelder has pushed for the Yankees to be recognized on the signs, noting owner George Steinbrenner's contributions to the community. Councilwoman Gwen Miller on Thursday said she feels the same way.

She's in my district... and I won't be voting for her.

Mayor Pam Iorio says the Yankees are not Tampa's home team. Ferlita says the Tampa Bay Devil Rays are based in St. Petersburg.

So I guess the Bucs and Lightning don't belong to St. Pete.  Additionally, all those ArenaBowls that the Storm won while playing in the ThunderDome shouldn't be recognized, since they were St. Pete's team then.

Ferlita is a f**king moron.

George Steinbrenner's contributions to the community
???

Who did we just read about that had a $3.5B economic impact to the area?!

The Bulls might not be "champions" at this point in time, but we're certainly rising stars!  We should be on that sign before any freakin' Yankee!!!!

I agree with you Eats It she is a moron. Last time I checked "Tampa Bay" encompesses the whole tampa bay area city's/towns i.e. Tampa & St.Pete. I wish she would spend her energy on acknowledging USF for all the economic impact they bring to the whole Tampa Bay community.
