I guess the question was more what basis do we have that a donor is going to suddenly pony up 700K for a single player.  Obviously there are people that COULD afford it if they were so inclined

Who knows? Who knows what drives any of these NIL donors to drop that kind of money on a kid that may or may not perform at expected levels at their school? Maybe we make the tournament and with most of the roster coming back next season, the Mumas or any other number of donors feel like Karter Knox could be the difference for a legitimate title run and want to help make that happen 🤷‍♂️

USF is an Adidas school. Kentucky is Nike. Not sure if that matters.

Exactly why I don't think the difference in NIL deals between Kentucky and USF will have as big an impact on his decision as it might with others.

What kid would turn down more money to go to a better basketball program? He'll take the Adidas money AND the Kentucky money.

how do you know how much kentucky money is available? oh and things aren't always so rosy there.

They are currently 5th in the sec. fans are getting impatient with cal in large part because they bring in one and dones and haven't done anything nationally in awhile.

they had two top 10 recruits last year and 4 mcdonald's all americans.

3 of their 5 star prospects were predicted first rounders after this year but they have been exposed.hurt their draft stock by going there and just being another dude.

there is only 1 basketball so not every 5 star is going to shine there.he would be one amongst many.

it would be better for him to go someplace where he is THE guy not just another guy

If he really is a one and done, the NIL money for him for one year is chump change ...

A kid who's getting that Adidas money already and has a chance to play with his big brother for a year on a potential tournament team and is going to be an NBA draft pick and make even more millions anyway?

Different people have different priorities. His one overarching stated goal is to go to a team that will help him develop his game for the NBA. His decision very well could come down to if he thinks Calipari or CAAR is better for player development.

he's probably less concerned with being developed as he is with showcasing his talent. Much more difficult to stand out on a team loaded with 5 stars.

interesting side note. his brother kevin is no longer on an nba roster. someone told me he was at our game the other day

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
