So basically, you want everybody but that actual athlete to get paid huh?

Nope. Just want a level playing field - not free agency. Put some restrictions in place.

Don't worry.  With all the changes, employee regulation and lots of lawsuits are coming.  Then the real teams will get involved.

Coaching departures are a different story....

He's not wrong there.  We just need to work to a point where we are reloading with good talent instead of rebuilding like someone else mentioned before me.

I think those guys were gone regardless. Players leave to upgrade their situation when they've personally had good years, not necessarily when their team's had a good year.

Don’t you work in the legal field? Your whole career is based on restrictions being in place.

OK, so a couple of scenarios:

1) Blueblood program has once-in-a-generation, Heisman-caliber QB. C-USA program stumbles upon donor who says, I’ll pay that QB $50-million. QB transfers to C-USA program. How loudly does blueblood program scream for reform/restrictions?

2) NCAA has QB class like 1983 (Marino, Elway, Kelly). Blue blood programs have been paying said QBs $50-million a year for 2/3 years. Said QBs talk and decide - “We have more money than we’ll ever spend, why risk knees, shoulders, brain to play in the NFL? Might as well call it quits now.” How loud does NFL scream for reform/restrictions?

And if they’re just employees can’t we contract for useful life?  We don’t make janitors or bureaucrats leave after 5-9 years.  Imagine the NFL having to buy rights to a player.  Lol.

The progressive atty from California says no to restrictions, that is rich.  If there are no FB or MBB scholarships then Title IX doesn’t really come into play?  It is amazing how many ridiculous and inaccurate takes can be cobbled together in one post, Steve never ceases to amaze.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
