Booked an Airbnb yesterday. Hampton Inn in Tuscaloosa says “sold out.” Couldn’t find a Hilton to quote us. Actually saw one down in Hattiesburg for ONLY $970/night on that weekend.

Funny you post this then I see the pictures from 2003 - one sign had 2 night hotel cost of $140!

Hotels are stupid expensive now, minimally staffed, and poorly cleaned. You are most of the time better off paying more for an Airbnb, and if you travel in a group you can split the costs as well.

I've used Airbnb but I'm more a VRBO guy ..... but I think they more lean toward vacation/destination spots. I'll check but I'm not really seeing Tuscaloosa fitting that criteria, although maybe for game weekends.

As a Hilton lifetime diamond, I can get a room in Tuscaloosa for a mere $4.498 per night and the Hampton at $1,500.  Hotels are in the $300 range in Birmingham/Hoover.
