GAME DAY vs. Alabama

USF will look to snap a 14-game losing streak vs. ranked teams when they Bulls face their sixth Top 10 ranked foe in Raymond James Stadium (2-3 vs. top 10 at home) and 12th overall (3-9) when No. 10 Alabama comes to Tampa for the first of a three game series. USF will return games to Tuscaloosa in 2024 and 2026. The last top 10 opponent to visit Raymond James Stadium was No. 2 Cincinnati, which posted a 45-28 victory in 2021. The Bulls two top 10 home wins came against No. 9 Louisville (45-14) in 2005 and No. 5 West Virginia (21-13) in 2007.

1 vs. 286: First-year USF head coach Alex Golesh posted his first career victory last Saturday vs. FAMU (38-24) while Alabama head coach Nick Saban enters Saturday with 286 career wins, the most for any active head coach by nearly 20 and fifth-most all-time. Golesh did help lead Tennessee to a 52-49 victory over #3/1 Alabama in Knoxville last year, with the Vols posting 567 yards of offense.

BAMA TIES: USF RT RJ Perry (a transfer from Tennessee) is a cousin of Alabama first-team All-America defensive back Kool-Aid McKinstry. Former USF head coach Charlie Strong (2017-19) is an analyst on Nick Saban’s staff. Alabama offensive line coach Eric Wolford was a member of USF’s inaugural staff and helped coach the Bulls for the program’s first three seasons (1997-99).

DEFENSE RISING: USF’s new defense under coordinator Todd Orlando featured six new starters and six transfers in its debut at WKU. It forced six three-and-outs on 14 WKU possessions, including three in a row late in the second half as USF rallied. Against FAMU the Bulls grabbed five turnovers, the most since 2019, including three interceptions, the most since 2020, and added 12.0 tackles for loss, the most since 2019.

Good job Matt.  I see the tweet, but didnt read the story.  I would think any team at that level would come out with a vengeance.

How has USF fared against Top 10 teams at home?  Hmmm?

Kinda surprised he didn't bring that up ..... with a caveat of "in the last 14 years".
