it's a luxury.

Luxuries are not only okay but a lot of fun.

Haters are going to hate.  They don't want us to have anything.  One has to do it and prove them wrong.

its established academics are against spending on sports in general for universities so that has to be considered.

But concern #1 in the doc makes no sense.

20.5-5.3 is 15.2 million, did he then subtract the money we aren't earning from Raymond James instead of adding it to get 13 million? Am I missing something?

USF makes a 'profit' from games at RayJay (ticket sales, banner and scoreboard advertising, etc).  That money is obviously used for existing athltic department expenses.  Baker's math assumes that money would not be available for debt payments.

It's logical - USF won't be able to use ALL of the money earned in the stadium to pay the debt service.  It will need some of that money for other department needs.

[NOTE: This is not a defense of the article, just explaining why the math was listed the way it was.]

It's a bizarre claim implying that USF would make less revenue from the new stadium than from RJS. If we have a big Alabama or UF opponent we can roll them over to RJS if that gets them on the schedule, it only costs 200k to rent RJS for a game, maybe 300k if we need the whole stadium.  We had 18 million in football related revenue during 21-22 which was a horrific 2 win season. It's using zero based budgeting to assume no revenue growth whatsoever. We could theoretically afford that debt service just with the concessions and parking increases. If we actually start winning I'm pretty confident the real revenue number will be much higher, closer to 30 million a year or so.

I'm not against the stadium but it doesn't make economic sense. That's all they are saying.

Honestly it doesn't make economic sense to even have  athletics. It's a huge financial drain on the school.

I think we can't afford not to built one.

Will it be expensive; yes.

That said it has to be built right. We can't afford to go the cheap route.

Bottom line is that we are going to know if the OCS is going to become a reality after the 6/13. I didn’t bother wasting my time reading the POS times. What matters most is what happens next week not from some idiot writer from the University of Indiana

You nailed it. I will say you have mostly been the voice of reason on this forum. Pretty much everything you post makes logical sense. Thank you for that

Basically it is like a neighbor telling everyone that a new neighbor getting to purchase a house can’t afford it lol. Pretty terrible hit job by the local POS rag if you ask me.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”
