What the **** is a "splashy hire" anyway .....? Someone who is a proven winner, who is in demand and you would think would get a Power 5 job, but then decides to coach at a smaller school. Kiffin to FAU, Herman to FAU, and Chadwell to Liberty would qualify. Edited May 5, 2023 by belgianbull

Herman wasn't even in college football and Chadwell was coming from Coastal Carolina ..... that doesn't scream splashy to me. Only splashy this year, to me, would have been Prime Time. Knew I'd have to defend that part but that was a particularly unique situation in comparison to the others ...... my definition of splashy hire incorporates a circus-like atmosphere.

I'm good without the "splash" if it means we got the right fit. I like what I've heard from Golesh so far, but we obviously have no clue yet how it will work out on the field. CJS was not a splash hire, he was a glorified WR’s coach who failed at a level that is historic. Strong was closer to a splash hire only because many believed (myself included) he could recruit Florida from his prior two stints from Texas and simply was a bad fit out west. He was going to bring back the aggressive D we had missed and he was cheap, unfortunately you get what you pay for, strong was garbage but was Lombardi esk compared to Scott.
