Huh.  We just built an IPF, we're talking about and working on an OCS, we appeared to be prepared to throw wheelbarrows of money at the top coaching candidate out there (a current HC), and we ended up with one of the top coordinators in the country who led the best offense in the country.   How exactly do you get that our current administration (AD, Pres, BOT, etc) are content with our current standing?

I agree.  This is confusing.

If we could just find a way to get over all the woulda, coulda, shoulda and focus on NOW. We need to commit now to becoming THE power in this new version of the AAC, invest in a good new stadium, and things will follow. So many people like to bemoan how UCF has passed us by. They did so by not whining and burying their head in the sand when we got the Big East invitation. They invested in their program, became the class of C-USA and have been rewarded. We just want to compare things to what they used to be. That’s gone. You have to plow forward and not continue to look back. Is the hiring of Alex an admission of failure? We have no idea until we see what he brings to the table. Could he be our Scott Frost or Luke Fickell? No one knows yet. Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt at this point.

UCF got wildly lucky with a coach and a QB.  UCF had terrible attendance at their new, crappy OCS and player killing IPF, and were winless on the field after all that "investment."  They were in debt up to their eyeballs.  If Frost and MM had not shown up when they did and gotten the bandwaggoners interested in melting on Aluminum bleacher in a "stadium" that was a safety hazard, it would have all fallen apart.

There was no real plan.

What are you smoking? "Talking about and working on an OCS". You realize they have been "taking about" it for over a decade. We consistently understand our peers regarding football. UCF (as an AAC member) spent 32% more than we did this year. The IPF was a minimum requirement. Are peers have had bigger and better ones years ago.

This isn't true.  ucf has nothing to do with this conversation so moving on

My point is, we aren't doing the things they did. Forget what USF is saying, look at their budget from last year. Doesn't that budget reflect what you are saying? How do you think the needle gets moved unless we are willing to spend on par with peers so we can have our own UCF story.

Play it out. If we continue to underspend on football and Alex magically does more with less than his peers. Don't you think another school, that is willing to invest, just scoop him up then we are back to trying to find a miracle worker. Honestly we should be spending at the top of the AAC as it relates to football if we want to back this cycle.

I agree, now is the time to commit more resources to the program. I get the impression that is the direction we are heading. If not, then USF has decided that football is not an important asset for the university. The first test is this stadium. Regardless of what is happening on the field, it should not derail the momentum for this project. As fans and potential donors to the stadium, we can’t be short-sighted now.

Isn't this what we appear to be doing?  Built the IPF, pursuing an OCS, have increased donations, went after the high end coach and ended up with a high octane OC (sounds familiar).

If we are going to compare ourselves to the stepsisters to the east shouldn't we be comparing to them at least 7/8 years ago not now?

Someone please show me where anyone said anywhere that an OCS was a requirement by anyone for anything or where a single game was won by an OCS. An OCS is discussed as a mythical thing for three reasons 1) ucf built one and they eventually got in and we did not build one and then we didn’t get back in but it completely ignores that they have been consistently winning and relevant while he have not and back when we got in last time we were consistently winning and relevant. 2) we just don’t have one so people always think that’s the difference maker and 3) because it’s expensive and takes a long time so it allows a forever excuse to be able to be developed that will eventually be someone else’s problem when it solves exactly zero things
