I think Kelly should definitely be gone unless he can drop an acc announcement soon...

He should have have been fired along with Scott. Any other program would have done same...no accountability at USF athletics.

Hiring back to back head football coaches without any head coaching experience at this level inexcusable in my opinion.

So now that Kelly has fired Coach Mohl, his managing style is becoming more apparent. He extended everybody knowing he would likely fire many of them before seeing the ends of those contracts. It doesn't seem to play a role in his decision making going forward. Just wants the appearance of continuity.

So paying Brian Gregory $400k for the next 2 years or Mohl or Jeff Scott. On one hand, it appears foolish. But if that lost money is built into your cost of doing business, takes a lot of the pressure off.

If the donors/school have given Kelly that leeway, makes the extensions make much more sense.

Kelly appears to have made 4 good hires (Erik Jenkins - Track, Alex Golesh, Shepardson-Volleyball, Amir Abdur Rahim) and 1 bad one (Jeff Scott).

All 14 head coaches under contract through at least 2023.

It is good to see MK weather the storm and now seems to have USF moving forward. USF just lost a great women’s golf course to UGA so hopefully they hire someone that can continue the momentum.

I think there would be quicker turnover of underachievers if we had the additional budget/alumni support. I do not think VPoAMK just wants to give free passes/extra years to coaches who aren't performing. Ultimately, we are prioritizing athletics like USF has never done before - and due to restraints we have to focus where the greatest impact gets made (FB/MBB). If VPoAMK can continue to fill vacancies with low-cost high performers (Jenkins), it will be a real testament to his eye for talent.

YES!!!! Low cost is key. Save the resources for the revenue generating sports.

Although not specifically spelled out, the extensions were basically because of the circumstances surrounding Covid so I’m not sure I see it as a management style per se …. unless you’re referring to the way he handled the pandemic unlike others. No C-19, no “continuity” extensions.
