Dan Mullen
2018 -- took over and turned a 4-7 UF team into 10-3 with a Peach Bowl win.
2019 -- followed up 11-2 with an Orange Bowl win.
2020 -- 8-4 with a mid-season win over #5 Georgia but then lost the last 3 games, including the Cotton Bowl.
2021 -- went 6-7 with some pretty ugly losses (WHAT HAPPENED?) <-- FIRED

Wondering if he got burned out in Gainesville

I disagree with everything else but that he can be. He has a brand. He is legit. He is not a comical hire but he can also be put in celebrity status. But that is a good thing in this case not bad so not sure why that was put that way.

I mean, technically, he was successful at Jackson State by pulling in higher level talent with his name recognition when he started there.  That's kind of what we are hoping he does here, pull in higher level talent because of name recognition.  At this point, we really don't know how good he is as a coach because until now, he has out-talented the opposition.

Yes, he's is not without celebrity status because of his HOF career and larger-than-life personality. But it's not like you're hiring Matthew McConaughey to be your head coach in terms of "hiring a celebrity". Calling Deion a celebrity in the way OP did, diminishes him for who he is as a player, tremendous athlete, coach, and personality. A coach is a motivator and a director, the players play the game.

Herman I'd like he never did bad at Texas and turned Houston around.

Mullen give me a little Charlie Strong vibes...like he think he be to good to be here and would half ass it here.

The only reason his hiring makes sense is intangibles.  These all stem from his celebrity.  He is our version of Trump.

If Cincinnati's job is getting filled by the guy from Ohio State, that means URBAN MEYER is available!

My understanding from some Gator fans is that Mullen is a bit of a fruit loop and not the easiest to get along with and didn't like to hit the recruiting trail.
