What kind of check are you writing?  The program has been in a tail dive since 2011, even its best was loses to UCF, FAU, WKU, and more.  It's not nostalgia, it is a more rational form of time to put all your chips in or fold than hiring a celebrity.  We are now what we laughed at others for.  We've been that for a while.

If you think hiring Deion Sanders is "hiring a celebrity", please just bow out of the coaching discussion.

LOL Jamey, you're gonna be a funny coach! Glad you can join us on the board before your announcement.

Tom Herman would be a great hire

If we end up with Herman or Mullen I won't be disappointed at all. Up until 2 weeks ago I thought those were the best realistic hires

The inverse of that statement is more correct.  If you don't understand that hiring Deion is hiring his celebrity, you may not understand what is going on.  We are on a 200 page thread because of it.  We are getting trolled by Bubba and others.

I disagree with everything else but that he can be. He has a brand. He is legit. He is not a comical hire but he can also be put in celebrity status. But that is a good thing in this case not bad so not sure why that was put that way.

I mean, technically, he was successful at Jackson State by pulling in higher level talent with his name recognition when he started there.  That's kind of what we are hoping he does here, pull in higher level talent because of name recognition.  At this point, we really don't know how good he is as a coach because until now, he has out-talented the opposition.

Dan Mullen
2018 -- took over and turned a 4-7 UF team into 10-3 with a Peach Bowl win.
2019 -- followed up 11-2 with an Orange Bowl win.
2020 -- 8-4 with a mid-season win over #5 Georgia but then lost the last 3 games, including the Cotton Bowl.
2021 -- went 6-7 with some pretty ugly losses (WHAT HAPPENED?) <-- FIRED
