Just for comparison sake. Scott took over from Charlie Strong and won 4 games in 3 years. Herman took over from Charlie Strong and, I believe, led them to winning seasons.

he won 4 bowl games in 4 years including a BCS game against Georgia.

Texas fired him and now are worse off with Sarkesian

much much harder. will be lucky to play for SEC championship once every ten years let alone national championships. they couldn't win consistently in the big 12.

There's going to by 9 teams in that conference with brands on the Auburn/Florida/A&M level or higher. There's going to be a handful of teams that have fanbases expecting 10+ wins almost every year that will turn into middling 6-6 programs.

If some of these 80k stadiums start becoming 60% full after a few years of that I wonder if you have big brands looking to break off into smaller more manageable conferences.

These conferences make sense from a money viewpoint, but fans don't see that money. If I'm a fan of Arkansas or Ole Miss I'm not that excited going 4-8 every year

that's exactly right. great for the money. not so great for the fans.

look at the old big east teams. they were consistently top 25 teams that played huge bowl games and now they can barely crack .500 most years.

west virginia is 68-56 since leaving big east. that's an average of 7-6 every year.

miami dominated college football when they were in the big east. they are an also ran in the acc

Was thinking about that the other day...WVU, Pitt, Louisville, Rutgers may make more money now but I have to imagine their fans had a lot more fun before they left the Big East

An interesting article on realignment, sort of. https://www.si.com/college/louisville/football/si-ranks-conference-realignment-value

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
