No. They're just letting people know they are available and willing to transfer. This allows other schools to contact as well I believe.

They always have the ability to come back provided the new coach wants them back. Marsh was in the portal and came back lasts season.

Kelly has a goal to have the new coach hired before December 5th when the transfer portal window opens.

A big part of that could be so guys can see who their new coach would be before finalizing any decisions on transfers. If we were to get Deion I'm sure we would have a lot of guys pumped to play for him and change their mind on transferring

What would stop every kid from simply saying “I’m available”? Then just wait to see if there’s any interest.

Of course the portal opens in Dec 5, so the season is over. I guess I answered my question.

Portal is open after the season and not during the season. Unless there's a coaching change in which case it immediately opens for 30 days.

A kid entering the portal runs the risk of his current team not renewing his scholarship the next year.

Due to the coaching change the portal is open now for USF players.

I wouldn't be concerned about players wanting to leave.  They probably know the incoming coach will be looking for better players.
