Interesting concept - could USF pull it off?

Oh boy.

It doesn't necessarily mean that of course.  But keep on.

Can you keep this stuff on the Fire Jeff Scott thread?  Thanks.

If only contracts were only performance based we probably have a new coach.

Maybe, maybe not. It would all depend on the structure of the contract. Structure other than the buy out clause. Cause right now that's all we've got. We simply cannot afford to keep paying a losing coach. But, IF that contract stipulated, in writing a certain degree of accomplishment, then you could terminate that contract "with cause"... or lack there of as the case would be.

Pay 1000 dollars per loss and 200k per win. Bowl amd conference championship wins are worth 400k each. If and only if though.

Pretty simple. $2.6million for an undefeated season is fair. I like it!

usf cant afford to play in nil game

who are we kidding

get a coach kids want to play for

the market place dictates this wouldnt work

I think the point is the market already has been dictating for us that we can only get a certain level of coach.  And if you're reliant on lesser coaches your odds of getting better players AND good coaching/preparation are that much wrose.

Considering that we've been shuffling coaches with no luck, why not *try* to move resources to a novel area, the NIL, instead of trying to compete in arms races for coaches and stadiums.

We can't outcompete everyone on facilities or coaches...so why not let others be encumbered by huge coaching contracts and stadium upkeep costs while we go straight to the source and pay for better players?

Of course the bigger programs will be better at using money, but if we can get ahead of AAC peers/lower P5 teams for a bit it might be worth it.

At this point I'm all for it.  Just go radically different because nothing is working for us.

This is the way☝️ If anyone just does a quick sketch out of dollars spent and then likely scenarios it becomes pretty clear pretty quickly that this is the best use of dollars to create the quickest solution with the greatest likelihood for success

Why would a coach sign one of those when 129 other schools will pay by the old scheme?

Right... good ******* luck finding a coach with that contract. I wish it were performance based but unrealistic right now.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
