TAMPA (February 8, 2022) – The University of South Florida Bulls have a short turnaround coming off a grueling and thrilling 52-49 win over Temple on Monday to host Cincinnati at the Yuengling Center on Wednesday night.

The Bulls will have to become quickly accustomed to limited down time as South Florida is in a stretch of six games (five at home) over a 13-day span.

USF snapped a four-game skid on Monday thanks to the heroics of Javon Greene's three-pointer with 20.1 seconds left on the clock. It was the second such game-winning triple Greene has connected on in the waning seconds of a game this season.

The Bulls forced 19 Temple turnovers in the victory and owned the scoring advantage in the paint, 30-16.

Russel Tchewa (13) scored in double digits for the second straight game. Jamir Chaplin (14) led the Bulls in scoring while Caleb Murphy chipped in 10. Murphy continues to lead USF in scoring (12.0) and assists (3.1) this season. Greene is second on the team with 9.5 ppg. Chaplin is averaging 11.9 ppg on 49 percent shooting over nine AAC tilts.

Corey Walker Jr. also stuffed the stat sheet on Monday with five points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals and a pair of blocks.

The Bulls won their last meeting with the Bearcats, the lone meeting of the 2020-21 season, 74-71 at Cincinnati. Prior to that, Cincinnati had won 11 straight matchups with USF.

South Florida ranks 42nd in the NCAA in scoring defense this year (63.7 ppg) while Cincinnati ranks 36th (63.3). The Bearcats also rank 11th nationally in field goal defense (38%). The stout Cincinnati defense will be a test against the Bulls who enter the game shooting 37.6% on the year.

David DeJulius (13.9 ppg) and Jeremiah Davenport (13.2) are the Bearcats' leading scorers. Davenport is shooting 36% from beyond the arc and leads the team with five rebounds/game. Abdul Ado is averaging 4.6 rebounds and has totaled 35 blocks this season.

The Bearcats are active on the glass which will be another key factor in the outcome as USF is just 1-9 this season when it does not win the rebounding battle.

I like the short turnaround, hoping Cincy came in early, enjoyed themselves and come out flat like Temple did.  Maybe we build on something, maybe we don’t, this stage nothing to lose of course except the game, and that shouldn’t scare anyone nowadays that follows this program.

Not going to hate but how does Murphy only hit 56% from the line, he should be 20 points higher, not sure how this happens.

Are you suggesting that maybe USF Athletics should be utilizing some of the establishments on Dale Mabry in-order to wear-out opposing team players?

How does your starting PG only have a 3pt FG on the year?

I saw it, celebrated like he scored a TD.  Dude has so much potential and has realized so little to date.

I am legitimately stunned we are in this game. Should have jumped on the tickets some people were offering up LOL.

8-0 run by UC to close-out the half

Hopefully, Gregory addresses the shot selection during half time - there were at least three fast breaks when we pulled-up for a 3-pt shot (which we missed)

Ladies up 11 at half. I’ve never understood the reasoning for going for 3 on fastbreaks except when the clock is about to hit 0
