I visited the T&F complex last fall (even did an easy three miles on it). It was not too bad but the first lane was getting choppy and uneven. They did have the conference championships on it last year so it was acceptable.

I remember running on a cinder surface with long spikes.  I also remember when rubber surfaces came into being.  440, 220, and Mile Relay.  Our XC course was a Skiing complex, so up and down the hills. 

But I also remember running like Hell from a T-rex, so there's that.

I'm going to have to drive down to campus one day and look around.  It's cool that the non-revenue sports get their share.
