Were Rutgers or Maryland ever good teams? Hell, Maryland left the ACC for the Big 10 and they always sucked. There are plenty of losing schools that get invites to P5 conferences. Missouri  wasnt killing it when they got invited 2 the SEC. The Big Ten NEEDS a Florida school and if we simply win our games and focus on improving ou program than the opportunity will come. And if it doesnt than we will create our own path to success. 🤷‍♂️ Have faith my friend.

The big 12 may still be an option.  And the big10 will want to get into Florida eventually. They won’t go after us, but the downstream effects could eventually open us up for a promotion.  Sec or ACC to big 10-> acc to sec-> big 12 to acc-> aac to big 12.

I agree. We should have added Coastal Carolina ....

That is just an awful lineup of home games.  Even if USF were to become dominant and run through this conference like a hot knife through warm butter, the casual fan won't show up to watch those teams at Ray Jay.

UAB, FAU, UNT and UTSA have all been ranked or close to being ranked within the past 4 years. UTSA is currently ranked. We can't do anything but hope these teams will be competitive and help the AAC keep their status or elevate it. Either way, we have a kick a$$ OCS full of quality P5 teams.

We can begin another 20+ game home winning streak...

This is not a concern to me at all... think Boise State in the Mountain West.

It all depends on what the ones expanding next time, if there is a next time, are looking for. The first go rounds it wasn't focused only on winning. Obviously this time, though, it was primarily about on the field success ...

The Big 10 is the same conference that poached "Maryland" sorry a$$ from the ACC 🤣. I feel we may have a chance with them. We just have to start winning.

For football strength a mix of schools focused on success regardless of market would have been good. So UAB, UTSA, FAU can stay but instead of the other 3, you'd look at Marshall, App State, Louisiana.

Coastal gets mentioned a lot and I get why but they've barely sustained this success so who knows if this keeps up once their QB or HC goes away. We could say the same thing about UTSA but if both suddenly start to suck, once is a 34k student school in a large Texas city. The other is a 10k school in a low population SC town. I'd need a longer App State-like track record from Coastal to be able to take that risk on them.

I think App State and/or Ga Southern would have been nice adds over a couple we did add ....

Doesn't matter where these teams are ranked or how competitive they are.  They are perceived as minor-league.  Only the 15k to 20k hardcore USF fans, who would show up to watch the team play anyone, are going to be at Ray Jay for conference home games starting in 2023.  Its all about perception.

I guess we agree to disagree.  When this new AAC/Conference USA 2.0 starts up in 2023, I think that USF can go undefeated in the conference and people are not going to show up to watch them take on Rice or North Texas or Charlotte.  The AAC is going to take on an even more minor-league perception starting in 2023.  Conferences such as the Big 12 and the ACC are perceived as major-league, power conferences and will draw more fans to home games if USF were to be lucky enough to join one of those leagues.

We draw more fans - sure.  But majority are of that other team.  So not sure what it does for building a USF fan base.
