The term probably comes to you more naturally…

Is it possible for three or four other conferences to find enough profitable members to get to 16 that won't lower individual payouts?  I don't think so and therefore, without a governing body it does not have to happen.  Am I wrong?

I don't know. Landscape is changing.  What do I know about it?

The bigger point is:  Will the bigxii be pulling in that same $ without Texas and Oklahoma?

That answer is "no".

Don't forget, there have been discussions about the bigxii imploding since before the great big east debacle Marinutto(?) Pulled off in 2011 by trying to get Villanova to play BCS AQ football.

Another question is:. What about that alleged ESPN:AAC collusion mess just a few weeks ago?

Big swing again from bigxii imploding and BE/AAC to the rescue to some sort of "magical" recovery.

Hoping Kelly drops some bombs at the groundbreaking and that's why all the silence.  I won't hold my breath though.

So where does the American go from here?  What teams out there would then view the American as a step up? Coastal, App State, UAB, FAU? Would any West Coast Teams make sense. Would it be viable or make sense for the American to be one of the first conferences to go to 20 Teams and have an American East/ American West?  I am not overly familiar with the Mountain West but why not merge both of the those conferences and then take the next best 4 programs out there from the Sunbelt, C-USA, MAC.  Are any of these conference strong enough to cause the American to dissolve and be poached further? I would not think so.

MWC is now better and will be making more $ pretty soon. So I don’t think we are in position to poach them. If a new conference is created keep in mind you don’t get any ncaa basketball qualifiers for a number of years. On the conference board they had the following teams as the top three: UAB, App State, and Rice. The conference could just choose two. I suspect Aresco will say something on Wednesday.
