That still goes to whatever schools are left, I assume.  I don't see why disillusion would obviate those responsibilities that have already been established.

If the AAC votes to be dissolved, that would release the remaining schools from having to give exit fees.  Now, the threat to dissolve may be enough to give the remaining schools incentive to negotiate a small exit fee package and keeping the AAC branding, etc.

I keep seeing 8.

Are there 8 teams worth taking? I don’t see it.

Cross country trips for football is no big deal. With an 8 game conference schedule, you would typically be looking at two long trips a year.

The problem is with all the other sports. That's why the conference would have to get large to make it feasible for the Olympic sports.

8 teams worth taking from the AAC? I think so. USF, SMU, Memphis, Tulane, Navy, UAB, ECU, Temple or UTSA. If need be the new conference can always add an Appalachian State or Army.

from the Mountain West: San Diego State, Boise State, Fresno State, Air Force,...

from the Pac; Cal, WSU,OSU. I think Stanford will find a way out.

Rock solid and an exciting conference in my opinion.

Hard to believe the MWC would just sit back and wait for their conference to get raided to death.

How many times would we play a West opponent a season? 1-2? Teams are so far apart so I would think you would not want much cross-country traveling.

But look at all the extra money we'd be making? </sarcams>

Olympic sports will be figured out.  Each year the east and central teams take one trip to pacific time and play 2 teams plus one trip to mountain time and play 2 teams.  The pacific and mountain teams do the opposite.  Plus tournaments would have to be in large airport cities in Texas for a central location.  Doesn't that work?

Even if the money isn't that much greater in the beginning there will be more fan excitement for us playing Boise State, Cal, and San Diego State compared to North Texas, Rice, and Charlotte.

The money would eventually follow.

They don't have much of a choice.  Assume the remaining MWC and AAC schools merge to form a new conference.

Who is going to give them a better tv deal? Their tv deal is worse than AAC’s deal. If anything we can expect the AAC to raid MWC too

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
