People only buy subscriptions for their teams.  I wouldn't subscribe to see Indiana vs Rutgers... but I would for USF vs North Texas (if I wasn't already subscribed).  I watched quite a few USF games via ESPN+ last year, not football - but soccer, softball, women's basketball, etc.

This....
I got ESPN+ as soon as it came out to get MLS and USL and then kept it simply because USF was on the docket. I pay whoever has my teams broadcast. I use ESPN for USF, Rowdies and Orlando City,  F1(Haas), F2(Hitech), F3(Hitech) and W Series(fun), Peacock for EPL(Wolves), MLBTV for Rays(out of market), Fox for USASoccer and of course Redzone for fantasy. My point here is, now that I have the option to do so, i drop or add whichever broadcast to see what I want to see. As the poster above says, i certainly wouldn't subscribe to see Indiana v Rutgers but if they were one of my teams, i most certainly would.

And yes, I watch way to much sports.

“The more broadcasters, major networks, we keep involved in college football, the better it is for everybody. Because they’re invested. They want to promote the game,” Swarbrick said. “They want additional properties. So, I think it was a brilliant strategy by commissioner (Kevin) Warren.

When realignment comes around, fans run to TV ratings as television value are the motor behind much of the saga that has been on-going for seemingly forever. These comparisons usually end up very flawed for a number of reasons.

In the interest of more data and understanding, let’s take a look the way that many of these articles fail to account for the network a game appears, as well as the competition across networks in the time slot, and how those two factors can skew the numbers wildly.

That's great and all but how do we skew the data presented to make our case for a P4 conference?
