You can see how our "erector set" allowed UCF to catch up to you

I've been saying it all along, but apparently we have a taste for finer things like red cup holders and luxury boxes without a brand identity.

If we were real OGs, we would take bench seating on campus.

I honestly thought we were close enough...really sad day for me today :(

We literally witnessed the rise and fall of a program.

It will be a ESPN 30 for 30 episode one day.

Yep, we needed to spend (dip into the endowment..if it’s allowed for sports) and did not do it. It really was a perfect storm that doomed USF football but it was a storm that we all controlled and contributed towards.

We both really put on a clinic of what and what not to do.  Unbelievable but I called it the whole time.

That would make me sick if they profited off our demise after helping to cause it lol...

I sure hope so, especially if it were actual, honest journalism to show how mere individuals can have such a devastating effect on a program.  We had it all (and it wasn't much in those days) and turned it into nothing.

Okay, let's talk AAC 2.0.! Think outside the box - Boise, Air Force, SDSU, UNLV, Army and recent Cinderellas like Coastal and App State.  Let's truly be the American in all time zones and with all the service academies.

If we lose pretty much our top 3 contenders in AAC..Some reason I see this image of the AAC merging with say, Mtn West. Create giant P5(6) conference. Or, Areco says: Screw it I'm outta here

Now, wait a minute. I thought Aresco was working to poach Big 12 teams to Pow6r!

So I guess comparing us to Miami (an established brand that will never be kicked out) playing at a pro stadium vs. us, vs.  UCF making real investments is much clearer now.

I get that but it does have some therapeutic value. Dissecting the cadaver can be useful.

It does tickle my MBA brain.  I've felt that the whole time the problem wasn't the alumni, but rather the leadership that didn't even try to show a vision for how we would build.  Then the results of the feasibility study showed me that maybe we didn't deserve it anyway.  Maybe by busting us down to nothing, we will figure out what is actually important.  Granted, there won't be a ship to get back on at that point.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
