This all starts to sound like an academic job hiring.

They advertise nationally, but meanwhile they have an internal candidate -in this case, candidates.

All the applications start to roll in. They do video interviews and act all official. They'll probably invite some of the schools to do a face-to-face pitch.

Then, when they make their decisions, it will be their internal candidate(s) with all the connections.

Who dat?  Houston. Who else? Probably Cincy. (I'm not saying Cincy has or doesn't have B12 connections, just that they look the part and will probably get in.)

And it's starting to look less and less likely that they have the guts to go with four new teams, fearing the repercussions from the TV networks.
