10 teams do not destroy the Championship. With the change that happened in the Championship criteria, a Conference with 10 teams can play a round robin schedule and still hold a Conference Championship game. It could also split into two equal divisions and then hold a Conference Championship game. That's what the Big 12 was expected to do.

Yes but scheduling becomes a nightmare, as the Big 12 is currently dealing with.

So you're suggesting they'd rather expand. Hence the need for a meeting. I gotcha. Yes that is a possibility as well. Not the sexy one but, true. :dankk2:

The American Athletic Conference Admins are scheduled to meet tonight. I would think that if the American were to lose 2 teams, they'd have no real reason to meet as they could remain at 10 teams and be fine. However, if they lose 1, 3 or even 4 teams. They'd need to meet to select members to backfill and get ahead of the media blitz by being proactive. It would also help if the teams leaving were leaving next year as opposed to the following year.

What do you guy's/gal's think?

Too lazy to find a link, but I 100% positive that I read a Mike Aresco quote saying that if we lose one member, we will replace the member, but if we lose 2, we will stay at 10.

Big 12 expansion is a non-starter unless it includes University of Houston. @UHouston

I wonder if Judy might ask Renu Khator (current UH chancellor, former USF provost) to put in a good word about USF with the big man upstairs (apparently Abbott).

Scheduling shouldn't be a nightmare with 10 teams. 9 conference games, 3 ooc .... with top 2 teams competing in the ccg. It's the most perfect way to crown a conf champion.

Do we already accept that we are getting left behind AGAIN?

I am praying that -- Big 12 expansion does not include ANYONE from the AAC, if USF isn't a candidate.

I would be ok with this as long as the 3 ooc games are all fbs

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
