Better overall athletic program? Is that measured in head to head, NCAA tourney appearances or conference championships? Because those are just the categories UCF is leading in so you must be using something that I am not thinking of?

Since we just won the measure of athletic department trophy for the AAC, I am thinking that.

You've been here for 6 years and still don't understand how effective the Quote function is?

As long as they spend money when the team loses, the Big 12 doesn't care. I doubt their fanbase has gotten to the point of USF's. At least in the past 15 years.

It's pretty doubtful that any conference will bother to do that kind of research, winning years vs losing years money spent, blah blah blah. Bottom line is that, as we've been told over and over again over the years, the two schools are pretty much interchangeable in the big picture. Right now the football pendulum is swung their way and IF conference realignment happens again shortly and IF recent football success is a swaying factor, we're screwed IF it comes down between them and us for a spot.

They don't have to, the AD will have donor and attendance records by season.

And if they even bother to go back and check they'll see there's no drastic difference between the programs in that regard ...

Of course they will evaluate that closely.  We are talking about millions upon millions of dollars.  Do you think they are going to look at last year's football record alone and make a decision?  The leaders of these schools may be arrogant and condescending, but they didn't get to be presidents and AD's of the most prestigious schools in the country by being idiots.  Looking at just the last couple of years would be foolhardy, and these people aren't fools.

It's about the entire program and the potential of the entire program.  It is also about academics, whether people on here believe it or not.  Football performance is a minor factor, but it isn't nearly as large as people say.  We have, unfortunately, lost some of the political clout that Selmon gave us.  That guy could sell ice to people in Antarctica.  That is role that Harlan needs to fill.

You are asking a UCFer to use highly technically complex features, like a button.  I think your expectations are too high.

Would you be kind enough to list the sports you have a head to head winning record in?

USF has the advantage big time in the 2 major sports.

4-2 football

23-10 men's basketball

23-8 women's basketball

UCF hasn't beat the women's basketball team since 1980....

UCF clearly leads in having athletic administrators and coaches fired for NCAA violations. And deaths caused by coaches. Was it just football, or were they on probation for basketball too. Things like this is what you really have to consider.
