They said on the coach's show last night that Temple is 2nd in the nation in pass defense.  Not a good sign against a freshman qb.  Time to release the Mangham!!!

NEB, I think it is a safe bet we won't lose by just one...

One of my daughters coaches said once, "If we get beat by a lot, they were a better team. If we get beat by one, it's the coaches fault."

He managed 10 for 25 last week. Don't think it can get worse.

While zero is a number it isn't a counting number so would that count as one of the 10?  😆

Sure, 0 for 25 is a legit stat, potentially.

NOTING THE OPPONENT: TEMPLE

The Temple Owls (3-3, 1-1 AAC) are coming off an open week and have victories against Akron (45-24), Wagner (41-7) and Memphis (34-31). Their three defeats (against Rutgers, Boston College and Cincinnati) were by a combined 141-20 margin. The Owls went 1-6 last season, their first losing record since 2013.

Temple gained a season-high 479 yards in its win vs. Memphis, completing 36 of 50 passes for 322 yards. n Redshirt freshman quarterback D’Wan Mathis, a transfer from Georgia who started last season’s opener, has passed for 884 yards and five touchdowns with just two interceptions.

Place-kicker Rory Bell had a 55-yard field goal, the third-longest in AAC history, against Cincinnati.

CONNECTIONS: USF Offensive line coach/Assistant Head Coach Allen Mogridge coached at Temple in 2013 under Matt Rhule. Bulls tight end Mitchell Brinkman was recruited by and played for three years under current Owls Coach/ then Northern Illinois head coach Rod Carey.

“This is not a broken football program by any means. It just needs to be united, to get everybody on the same page, share that same vision, and really to have that standard - best is the standard.”

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
