Their three defeats (against Rutgers, Boston College and Cincinnati) were by a combined 141-20 margin. The Owls went 1-6 last season, their first losing record since 2013. Temple gained a season-high 479 yards in its win vs. Memphis, completing 36 of 50 passes for 322 yards. n Redshirt freshman quarterback D’Wan Mathis, a transfer from Georgia who started last season’s opener, has passed for 884 yards and five touchdowns with just two interceptions. Place-kicker Rory Bell had a 55-yard field goal, the third-longest in AAC history, against Cincinnati. CONNECTIONS: USF Offensive line coach/Assistant Head Coach Allen Mogridge coached at Temple in 2013 under Matt Rhule. Bulls tight end Mitchell Brinkman was recruited by and played for three years under current Owls Coach/ then Northern Illinois head coach Rod Carey.
