Signed 1,  4 star commit and acquired 3  4 star transfers in 7 days. He IMO, is not recruiting like a retread.

Recruiting portal players is at best 50/50...there is a reason why they are leaving (yes the same logic applies to USF). The real test will be with freshman recruiting.

Yes, but he attracting players that have played for him ( with between 1-3 years left to play) , so  I think that to some degree lessens the "portal risk", but a lot can happen in the next few months, both good and bad.

4th 4* recruit/transfer in the last month.

Big Kat has a lot of talent but hasn't quite reached his pinnacle yet and UCF could be a good place for him to do it as an edge rusher. He's very quick off the snap when attacking the passer and has an excellent shoulder dip and with his length he can be disruptive in passing lanes. He should be an immediate starter for Gus Malzahn at UCF and an instant difference maker.

Impact Rating: 8.3 out of 10

Normally, I'd agree. However, I come from the school of Steiner Math. Professor Scott Steiner applies this own mathematics to a situation like recruiting:

I would guess many of the portal transfers have more talent  and work ethic than the current crop ccs left us.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
